Displaybank: officially enter the era of LED-backlit LCD TV next year

On December 15, according to the professional survey agency Displaybank, the penetration rate of LED LCD TVs will reach 16% next year, and the shipment volume will reach 26 million units, officially entering the era of LED-backlit LCD TVs.

Displaybank pointed out that LED LCD TVs will increase by more than double every year in the next few years. It is expected that the global LED LCD TV shipments will reach 129 million units in 2013, and the proportion of shipments will reach 61.5%.

Displaybank pointed out that when the TV factory first began designing LED-backlit LCD TVs in 2009, the industry generally adopted two LED backlight technologies, namely, direct-lit and edge-lit designs.

According to the survey and analysis, Displaybank pointed out that the direct-type and side-light technologies have won the ultra-thin side-light technology after market evaluation. Since the second half of this year, the industry has moved toward a single development, which is conducive to the integration of resources.

Displaybank believes that in 2009, Japan and South Korea launched LED-backlit LCD TVs, which are mainly used in high-priced 40- and 50-size markets. However, from the TV manufacturers' LED-backlit LCD TV product layout, the size structure will be expanded to 20% next year. Diversified development towards the market.

According to Samsung Electronics, LG, SONY, Sharp, Philips and Panasonic's operating plan for the TV business next year, the sales ratio of LED LCD TVs planned by each factory is 40%, and 2%, mainly depending on the mastery of key components.
