[Home Theater Network] Home theater projector video tuning is actually a work of “disordering anywayâ€, so that the home projector can be restored to a screen close to the studio production room and used in conjunction with the room environment. Perfect adjustment can greatly improve the projection effect and exert its true strength. So how can we properly adjust the home theater projector? Here is a brief explanation:
The video parameters adjusted by the home projector are mainly Contrast, Brightness, Color, Hue or Tint and Sharpness. Some projectors also provide Gamma values. Set and customize the choice of color temperature. Adjusting the gamma value actually adjusts the relationship between the input voltage and the brightness of the picture output, which affects the level of the picture. Some machines offer several gamma adjustments, and some even offer RGB separate gamma adjustments, but the user adjustments are more complicated. In fact, the film is modified to suit the needs of CRT and other equipment during production, so it is generally not recommended to adjust the gamma gamma linearity. The color temperature adjustment is more lenient, because playing large screen projection, especially the three-gun projector, playing to the end is to play with color, to pursue the three-gun color richness and personal taste, so in addition to the machine's custom In addition to the color temperature, the RGB gain (Gain) and offset (Bias) can be combined to adjust the brightness and darkness to suit your taste. Of course, this adjustment should also be compared to the 10 IRE-100 IRE in the Avia DVD (IRE is the international common video signal brightness unit, with 0 or 7.5 for black, 100 for peak white) window graph and continuous grayscale map. It is mainly to check whether the color temperature is inconsistent between the bright part and the dark part after the self-adjusting color temperature adjustment, whether the phenomenon of reddish and bluish is present, and then further correction is performed.
Let's take "DVE" as an example to talk about the specific steps of adjustment. Before the adjustment, turn on the projector for half an hour, because the performance of the screen will be stable only after the internal circuit, the bulb and the projection tube are stabilized. At the same time, remember to return the sharpness of the projector. Zero processing. You can play DVE at the same time as the heat engine. You may want to familiarize yourself with this CD in the process.
First play the "DVE" disc, enter the title menu, enter the third "Program Guide"; select "Reference Materials" in the screen that appears after entering the "Program Guide"; enter "Reference Materials" and click the arrow to the right to turn to the first On the second page, enter “12. Display Setup Patterns†and a still picture appears. Jump to the next chapter is the specific test item; when “Display Setup Patterns†is displayed, you can also press the remote control menu button from the menu. Select the test item directly.
Grayscale adjustment
Go to "Display Setup Patterns" of "DVE" and go to the title menu and select "DVD PLUGE w/ Gray Scale". If the contrast setting is too high, the square will appear large and small, and the boundaries of the top two squares will become blurred. In this case, adjust the contrast to ensure that the border is clear and not blurred.
Next adjust the brightness of the projector. The brightness determines the Black Level. If the black level is not correct, it will affect the dark part performance and dynamic range of the picture. The background of this test screen is now the standard black. Increase the brightness value, then you will see three black bands on both sides of the square, the outermost one is darker than the background, and the middle two are slightly brighter. At this point, the brightness is slowly lowered, so that the outermost black belt will quickly disappear into the background. Continue to reduce the brightness until the black strip on the innermost side also hides into the background, then slowly raise it to make it faintly visible, and the black belt in the middle can just see it. The brightness value is the most suitable.
Now adjust the contrast again, still observe the top two white blocks, they should have obvious difference between light and dark, otherwise the contrast is too high. The contrast value is raised to the boundary of the boundary just at the critical point of clarity and blur, and the size of the four long squares is also consistent. Since contrast and brightness are mutually influential, repeat the previous step after adjusting the contrast to check if the brightness is appropriate. Now we have adjusted the white level (determined by contrast) and the black level (determined by the brightness value) to the most suitable position, achieving the maximum dynamic range, and the grayscale performance of the image will naturally be more attractive. In the process of adjustment, it is very likely that there will be a dilemma, that is, the contrast meets the requirements but the brightness is not suitable, and the brightness is adjusted to meet the requirements. What should I do if I encounter this situation? This is actually the limit of the equipment. It is enough to adjust to the nearest perfect position, because the limit of the equipment cannot be changed.
If you are calibrating a three-shot projector, the contrast adjustment should select “4. Needle Pulse†in “Display Setup Patternsâ€.
First turn down the contrast and then slowly increase it. Note the position slightly below the intersection of the left line, which stops when the position begins to bend. Then slowly reduce the contrast, the maximum value of the line does not bend is the appropriate contrast.
Color adjustment
Go back to the "Display Setup Patterns" menu and select "6. Color Bars w/ Gray Reference"
See this screen, then adjust the color saturation and hue (Hue or Tint). To adjust a single-shot projector, you must use a blue filter, and the three-gun projector only needs to cover the lens of the red and green guns. The amount of blue is adjusted, and red and green can behave correctly.
Let's adjust the color saturation first. When observing through the blue filter, when the color saturation and hue settings are correct, you should see that the six squares in the picture turn black, while the other squares are invisible. If there are still inconspicuous squares between the black squares, then you need to adjust the color saturation, and adjust the blue area as evenly as possible.
If the hue is set incorrectly, you will see two rows of squares joined together. At this point, you should slowly adjust the color to make the square in the middle disappear. In this process, it may be necessary to adjust the color saturation to achieve the most satisfactory results.
Adjust it according to the requirements of the disc, but you may not like this color performance very much, just fine tune it according to your own preferences. Because the color performance of different projectors has different styles, it is normal to have differences. Russell does not say "Is it necessary to be polymorphic, is it the source of happiness?" However, it should be reminded that it is not using any interface input. Color saturation and hue can be adjusted, please refer to the projector manual for details.
Sharpness adjustment
Go back to the "Display Setup Patterns" menu and go to "17. 1.33Overscan Pattern" on page 3.
First adjust the Sharpness to the maximum, and the white edges will appear on the edges of the text and lines in the figure. Then slowly reduce the sharpness until the white edges of the edges of the text and lines just disappear. According to experience, the sharpness value should generally be below 20. But if the sharpness is too low, the text and lines will be blurred (that is, the picture is soft).
Generally, the image quality adjustment required by the projector is mainly mentioned above. As for the color temperature and the adjustment of the Gamma curve, it is necessary to look at the individual skill. You can further study the video content of these discs and the various test charts provided, but many of them are not used to adjust the equipment, but the performance and limits of the test equipment. After understanding this, the projector is also more comfortable to play. In addition, some fans who use the projector also use a video processor, which not only can upgrade the standard definition signal to the high-definition level, but also provide a rich video adjustment method. For example, PMS products not only provide brightness, contrast and fine sharpening, but also adjust color saturation and hue, and RGB gain and offset adjustment during RGB HV input, making up for the lack of projector adjustments. Performance is perfect. For more home theater installation and debugging tutorials, click on "Home Theater Knowledge Encyclopedia".
