On November 16, 2009, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a notice G/TBT/N/USA/500 to revise the label of the lamp. According to Section 321 of the US Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, the FTC needs to consider the validity of the current lamp label and develop a more reasonable alternative labeling scheme. At present, the labels of the lamps required by the FTC mainly include information on light transmission, power and life. After research, the label is not enough to fully reflect the important information of the light, such as color temperature, etc. are not marked. In addition, it is easy for consumers to mistake power as a measure of the brightness of the lamp. Therefore, the FTC decided to revise the current labeling scheme, which covers the main household lighting bulbs, including general incandescent lamps, CFLs and LED lamps.
1. The packaging label should have brightness and Energycost information on the front panel of the package. There are LightningFacts labels on the side or back panel of the package.
2. Product Label In addition to the above proposed product labeling requirements, the FTC also requires that the light of the lamp be marked on the bulb. For lamps containing mercury, the notice requires the manufacturer to mark the following information at a location on the lamp: "ContainsMERCURY.See
epa.gov/bulbrecyclingor1-800-XXXXXXX."
