Foreign media: Intel and Mobileye develop autopilot technology for BMW

Beijing time on June 30, according to foreign media reports, people familiar with the matter said that Intel is working with Israel's advanced driver assistance system developer Mobileye NV to develop autonomous driving technology for BMW. According to people familiar with the matter, executives from the three companies will hold an event on Friday to discuss the driverless car project.

Headquartered in Jerusalem, Mobileye is an early leader in advanced driver assistance systems, providing cameras, software and other components that enable cars to observe the world around them. Mobileye's customers include BMW, General Motors and Tesla. As automakers and their suppliers compete to develop autopilot systems that replace drivers, most companies bet on artificial intelligence technology, which requires powerful computing power.

Intel is the world's largest chip maker, thanks to the company's dominance of the PC processor market. Intel has developed the automotive entertainment information system internal components to enter the automotive console market. However, in terms of supplying chips to the automotive industry, Intel still lags behind companies such as NXP Semiconductors and Infineon.

Now, consumers are more concerned about car technology when buying a car than horsepower. Automakers are looking for help from technology companies to meet consumer technology expectations, and the latter are used to enjoying a seamless smartphone experience.
