description:

The AD5412 is a low cost, precision, fully integrated, 12/16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a programmable current source and programmable voltage output designed to meet the needs of industrial process control applications.

The output current range can be programmed from 4 mA to 20 mA, 0 mA to 20 mA, or 0 mA to 24 mA overrange.

The voltage output is provided by a separate pin that can be configured to provide an output range of 0 V to 5 V, 0 V to 10 V, ±5 V, or ±10 V; all ranges provide 10% overrange.

The analog outputs are short-circuit and open-circuit protected to drive a capacitive load of 1 μF.

The device operates from an AVDD supply voltage range of 10.8 V to 40 V. The output loop compliance voltage is 0 V to AVDD – 2.5 V.

The flexible serial interface is SPI and MICROWIRE® compatible and can operate in a three-wire mode, greatly reducing the digital isolation requirements of isolated applications.

The device also includes a power-on reset function to ensure that the device is powered up in a known state. The device also includes an asynchronous clear pin (CLEAR) that sets the output to a zero-level/intermediate-level voltage output or sets the output to the low end of the selected current range.

In current mode and voltage mode, the total output error is typically ±0.01%.
