Full update! Seagate pushes single-disc 1TB desktop hard drive

Following the release of single-platter 1TB technology in May, Seagate finally announced the merger of its Barracuda line of hard disk drives, introducing the first single-disk 1TB technology into the desktop 3.5-inch hard disk drive: Previous Barracuda Green and Barracuda XT products Unify and go to Barracuda. Of these, Barracuda Green at 5900rpm will be discontinued in February 2012, while Barracuda XT, the flagship model of Seagate's 3.5-inch hard drive, will be replaced by SSD-cached hybrid hard drives sometime in the future. The Barracuda brand will be used on all Seagate 3.5-inch models prior to the launch of the new Barracuda XT hybrid hard drive.

The new Barracuda product line speed is 7200rpm, the newly launched product includes four models, the master upgrade to 40nm manufacturing process, the cache DRAM rises to 64MB DDR2.
