40G LR4 QSFP+ optical module
The 40G LR4 QSFP+ optical module is generally connected to the LC connector, and the maximum transmission distance of the single-mode fiber that can be supported is up to 10km. The optical module has four mutually independent transmitting and receiving optical signal channels, and the MUX or DEMUX is used to multiplex and demultiplex the optical signals. At the receiving end, four channels with a transmission rate of 10 Gbps are transmitted simultaneously. When these serial data streams are passed to the laser driver, the laser driver uses Directly Modulated Lasers (DMLs) to control the wavelength. The optical signals modulated by the direct modulation laser are then passed through a multiplexer and combined to transmit on a single mode fiber. Upon reaching the receiving end, these transmitted signals are then decomposed by the demultiplexer into four channels with a transmission rate of 10 Gbps. Then the PIN detector or transimpedance amplifier recovers each data stream, and finally the Jiangguang signal is transmitted.
40G SR4 QSFP+ optical module
The 40G SR4 QSFP+ optical module is often used with MPO/MTP connectors in 40G data transmission. Unlike the 40G LR4 QSFP+ optical module, this optical module is often used for multimode fiber transmission, and can support about 100 meters of signal transmission of OM3 jumpers and about 150 meters of signal transmission of OM4 jumpers. When the signal is transmitted at the transmitting end, the laser array first converts the electrical signal into an optical signal and transmits it in parallel through the ribbon multimode fiber. When the receiving end receives the signal, the photodetector array converts the parallel optical signal into a parallel electrical signal.
40G LR4 PSM optical module
The 40G LR4 PSM optical module is mainly designed according to the QSFP+ multi-source protocol, optical/electrical connection and digital diagnostic interface. As a highly integrated 4-channel optical module, it has the advantage of higher port density and at the same time saves a lot of cost for the operation of the entire system. The optical port of this optical module adopts parallel single mode technology PSM (Parallel Single Mode), which can realize effective transmission of 10,000m by using 4 channels of parallel designed MPO/MTP interface. The working principle of the 40G LR4 PSM optical module is the same as that of the 40G SR4 QSFP+ optical module. The electrical signals are converted into optical signals by the laser array, and the optical signals are converted into electrical signals by the photodetector array. The difference is that 40G LR4 PSM optical modules are often used to connect to single-mode ribbon fiber connectors, that is, parallel optical signals are transmitted in parallel through eight single-mode fibers.
