[High-tech LED] Germany's Osram has announced that it will promote the 6-inch InGaN-based LED chip production line in Penang, Malaysia and Regensburg, Germany.
The first product to enhance production capacity with large diameter is a white LED that uses thin film technology to improve luminous efficiency and brightness, and "UX: 3" technology. It is expected that by the end of 2012, the production capacity of white LED chips will almost double.
It is understood that the Osram Penang production base, the plant of the new plant is currently under construction, and the production line of InGaN-based LED chips at the Regensburg production base is scheduled to be 6-inch in stages starting in the summer of 2011.
Osram will increase its competitiveness by expanding its 4-inch substrates used to 6-inch substrates to increase its production capacity in the ever-expanding LED market worldwide.
