Video image systems are rapidly evolving toward more pixels, higher resolutions, and richer colors. The 4K video system has not yet become popular, and 8K vision has come to the fore. Previously, Image Matter, intervium America and Tokyo electron Device announced a collaboration to provide a range of technology solutions ranging from ultra-large 4K/8K (UHD) video systems to small-scale video projects. The first generation of the project was based on the "Origami B20" module based on the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale KU060 FPGA.
The module has been publicly unveiled at the "NAB Show" in Los Angeles, introducing a modular and tailorable concept. The "Origami B20" hardware consists of two PCBs, the core board and the backplane. The hardware block diagram and PCB silk screen are shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2, respectively. Based on the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale KU060 FPGA, the core board is responsible for video input and output and a series of video streaming and compression processing. The backplane is mainly I/O expansion and can be customized according to requirements.

The open architecture of the "Origami B20" with Xilinx high-level synthesis (HLS) allows designers to create 4K/8K video systems with differentiated features. Users can integrate pre-verified IP such as compression and I/O cores from industry leading IP providers into the system to implement basic functions such as 12G-SDI interface, HEVC, JPEG2000 and TICO light compression. Also with the help of HLS Complete the fast conversion implementation of the custom differentiated function module. The Xilinx UltraScale KU060 FPGA has 32 16.3Gbps high-speed SerDes interfaces that make it easy to implement 12G-SDI and 10G network interfaces; its high-performance logic resources and high-speed DDR4 also provide the bandwidth support needed for massive data stream processing.
The statement states that the "Origami B20" module can acquire and process 8K/60P uncompressed video data from four 12G-SDI link inputs and output TICO light compressed code stream through one 12G-SDI or 10G network link. Use multiple modules to handle higher bandwidth such as 8K/120P video and achieve more demanding HEVC, JPEG2000 encoding and more.
