In September this year, it was reported that Apple plans to acquire McLaren, a well-known high-performance car manufacturer, to make the Apple Car project more full. But the McLaren side immediately rumored about the acquisition.
However, the latest announcement shows that Apple and McLaren did have contact with the car-making project.
Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren, revealed that his company has received some offers but no Apple.
Mike Flewitt told Reuters: "He (Apple) have been here, we talked. We talked about what they did. We talked about what we did. They visited. But they never made a quote."
Unfortunately, although Apple is eager to get support from experienced carmakers like McLaren, the Apple Car project is ultimately fruitless.
In mid-October, Bloomberg quoted sources as saying that Apple has internally dissipated the Apple Car team and reassessed the future value of the project. In the future, Apple's main focus will be on the development of in-vehicle systems and autonomous driving systems.
